| Halfway
to Heaven
(for Barbara)
Up in Ogden Valley there is a place
Where my Grandparents share their last embrace
A peninsula hedged in by the wake
Of Pine View Reservoir, a man made lake.
Its waters encircled by valley farms
Enfolded by ravine and mountain arms
Sprinkled with diverse crops and
Channels and furrows for a canyon breeze.
Centered therein is the Grow family plot
A granite tombstone marks the very spot.
Just a few feet east of an evergreen
where on occasion flowers can be seen.
Their souls have gone on the rest of the way
But for now that's where their bodies will stay.
Beneath the grass and amidst the splendor
Bound on Earth to make the final render.
I know of no better place to appoint
Than the picturesque cemetery point.
In humble ground by open beauty blessed
Halfway to heaven, my Grandparents rest.
