The Miracle of Death

The souls on the other side of the veil
Must be waiting for our last ship to sail
Joyously saying at our final breath
Thank heaven for the miracle of death

But here, our crude body returns to dirt
Leaving friends and family feeling hurt
Missing the love they have come to expect
As they say good-bye and pay their respect

It's been said that as the years will go by
There are some of us required to die
This supreme sacrifice they're asked to give
In order that some continue to live

The threads of life are measured by Gods hand
The length of which we cannot understand
And through we know their soul the Lord will tend
It's always painful to watch a life end

If only we could look beyond the screen
Perhaps to know what our passing will mean
Then we may feel good drawing the last breath
And thank God for the miracle of death
