The Night we cried

I remember the night we cried
As we held each other so tight
So afraid we would lose our way
Or maybe get in too deep

And I remember how we tried
To plan a path for our flight
Before our love turned gray
Or we cried ourselves to sleep

I remember how we wanted to hide
As we felt the sting of the bite
So afraid we would fall some day
Or die with nothing to keep

And I remember the hurt inside
As we waited for the light
; Beside each other we lay
Too afraid to fall asleep

I remember the night we cried
As we held each other so tight
We made love and vowed to stay
Then snuggled closer to fall asleep
