sleep still prevails
in waking hours morn
the dreams of yesterday,
through the night born,
become a fading memory,
a loosing not to morn
for the day begins
and life carries on
and tonight begin again
the dreams you thought were gone
wet upon the sidewalk
from sky came the rain
washing off the present
and resting life again
leaving all the gray
upon the misty morn
letting not the sun shine through
until her veil is torn
then the light upon the earth
gives life to the gift
with flowers love and laughter
upon every lip
sugar sweet upon a stick
or held in the mouth
all that comes in wrappers
or from the candy dish
is gold to the child
held inside your chest
the simple sweet surprise
or crunchy little treat
is memories of gum drops
and the patter of little feet
