When someone sings of having love in the first degree;
how could we possibly ever know what that means?
A first degree murder is a Capital offense
but a first degree burn is of little consequence!
Inversely, a third degree burn puts one in critical condition
but a third degree murder is like a mercy killer on a mission.
When the suspect claims to have been given the "third degree";
was he "beaten within an inch of his life"
or was the interrogation a mere "slap on the knee"?
Also; what about the 'second degree".
Are we to believe that its always inbetween?
