The more I visit poetry sites and read poems
the more I notice how rare genuine expression is;
something that you feel you can touch,
something that does not ask the "outer world"
for approval but is an expression
of the author's inner feelings;
not just a show of good manners in print.

This Award goes to those poems, short-stories or essays
that show creativity, a flair for the unexpected,
the peculiar, or the usually neglected...;
then you need different "eyes" to see that,
you need to go out and pay attention
instead of passing things by
and buying into the smooth version
of poetics for the busy....
